Here is the problem. Months ago a friend who did not know that I no longer drink gave me a bottle of expensive burbon for my birthday. The bottle has been setting on a shelf deep in my closet behind some hanging clothes since then. I was going to re-gift it at Christmas. I arrived back home tonight to discover it missing. There is another person living in the house who I have caught lying before. He has a severe drinking problem. Should I directly ask him? Should I search his room while he is gone? There is another person here who is somewhat close to the suspect. Would it be a good idea to ask him? Perhaps I should say something cryptic to his friend such as "If tonight John has gone down a road I think he did you should tell him that if he comes foreward now there will be less trouble."

I am 90% sure he took it. Like I said he has a record of lying.

Any suggestions?
